So much has happened!

+ Completely redid my website

+ Finally started an art account on Insta

+ In the midst of a pandemic that allowed me to re-evaluate my life and personal goals, I left my job.

+ Created a Boston Animation Slack channel. Feel free to join. It's quiet. We're trying.

+ Re-learned Blender (what little I knew before) and trying my hand at NFT's. I don't know what I'm doing. Looks kinda neat though.

Lots of things in the works. No idea what will come of it. But for the first time in a long time, I finally have the time, energy, and focus to do creative things I enjoy. So thanks 2021.

My holiday card this year was interactive! I designed the card with a sheet of ornament "stickers" - loved seeing the way people decorated their cards :)

Tiny Jar Designs

I made some pins! You can finally buy some here!

Never thought I'd try my hand at designing something that required manufacturing, so this was a fun learning process. Pretty cool to make something that lives on outside of just a digital file. I'll keep using Tiny Jar to experiment with some small scale products and designs when inspiration strikes. This whole thing was just a side project that got too ambitious... and I had to follow through.

Maybe we'll give custom stickers a shot next.

Hey I'm Making Stuff!

Check it out! Been trying my hand at some enamel pins - figured it would be cool to design something that you can actually touch. And I gotta say, having these arrive at my door the other day was actually really exciting.

I'm working on setting up a small online shop with a friend, and we'll try to sell a few of these and other designs in the future hopefully. Keep checkin' back for updates, see a sneak peek at some early comps and a photo of one in the wild.

Jibro

This little guy is out in the wild and features some animated emojis that are uh, pretty sweet if I do say so myself /modesty/ Check out some of the spots I animated, he's pretty cute.

Transition Period

As I'm currently transitioning over to my new digs at Jibo, I thought it'd be fitting to post a bunch of transition and loading animations I've made over the past 5 years. I've worked on so many of these, from Scholastic to PBS to Sesame Street, and it's been a consistently rewarding challenge. I don't think most people go to school for animation hoping to animate loading screens, but these were some of the most fun things I made.


CloudKid was pretty much a dream job, and I couldn't be more grateful to spend all my years straight out of school working with such a talented group of people. It was a lot of work and a lot of jumping into the deep end and we made so much stuff, but I learned more there than I did in all my years of school. As 2016 rings in the year of Jibo, I just want to say thanks to CloudKid - for hiring me, for trusting me, for pushing me to do new and incredible things. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for them.

So to any CloudKids who ever read this, thanks. See you on the flipside.

Throwback Piece

Was asked to do a 'throwback' piece about my childhood adventures for a Kickstarter game, The Siblings Trouble. I grew up in Hong Kong and spent a lot of time at Kam Shan Park, where I fondly remember mingling with monkeys. Probably not this peacefully though.

Grover's Winter Games

Olympic season's upon us, and Sesame Street's launch of Grover's Winter Games is probably no coincidence. Incidentally, I also directed this game as my first foray into leadership on an interactive project and in life. Check it out. Tell your kids. You don't have to tell your friends, unless they are small children as well. Or huge fans of Grover in colorful winter attire.

A long time ago, I was talking to my high school art teacher, and she said "When are you going to stop dressing like a 14-year old boy?" and at this rate, the answer is 'probably never.'

I 'redrew' a photograph for my mom. Happy mom's day!

I have this gift that whenever I draw someone, they end up looking like they are 12 years old. I'm sure my mom appreciates that.

Minecraft

I entered in a Minecraft art contest a while ago and got picked as one of the 12 months in the final calendar - apparently there was a voting period, which I completely missed, but if you are reading this and you voted for me, many thanks to you and your mouse click.

Besides getting to be a part of a cool project and receiving a handful of other sweet prizes, they also sent me this Creeper figurine, with the box autographed by the Mojang team. Who says fanart never pays off!

This makes up for all those times I sent in fanart to Nintendo Power as a kid and never got picked.

I LOVE HOODIES

I WANT TO OWN A HOODIE IN EVERY COLOR IMAGINABLE. Or at least the ones I look good in.
